Global Energy & Infrastructure Leaders to Gather at Rex Fuels Global Expo & Conference 2026 in Muscat

Muscat 2026

MUSCAT, MUSCAT, OMAN, August 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As the global petrochemical industry enters a defining phase of transformation, the 20th Edition of the Rex Fuels Global Expo & Conference, taking place on 31 August 2026 at the Grand Millennium Muscat, Oman, will bring together industry leaders to examine the forces reshaping international trade, manufacturing and investment. Against a backdrop of rising industrial demand, evolving supply chains and accelerating sustainability initiatives, the conference arrives at a time when collaboration is becoming as important as production capacity in determining future growth.

As global markets evolve, the industry's role is becoming even more significant. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that petrochemicals will become the largest driver of global oil demand growth from 2026 onward, reflecting rising demand for plastics, synthetic fibres and industrial materials even as transport fuels undergo structural change. By 2030, the production of polymers and synthetic fibres alone is expected to require 18.4 million barrels of oil per day, highlighting the sector's growing influence on global energy markets.

The challenge for the industry is no longer centred solely on increasing production. Companies today are balancing expansion with sustainability, investing in recycling technologies, cleaner feedstocks, digital manufacturing and circular economy solutions while responding to growing demand from developing economies.

The conference will bring together stakeholders from refining, petrochemicals, commodity trading, logistics, infrastructure and manufacturing to examine how businesses can adapt to changing market conditions while identifying new opportunities for regional cooperation.
India is expected to play a defining role in this transformation.

According to the IEA, India will account for the largest increase in oil demand of any country through 2030, driven by rapid industrialisation, urbanisation and manufacturing growth. Much of this expansion is linked to sectors that consume petrochemical products, including construction, packaging, consumer goods, automotive manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.

The country's chemical and petrochemical sector has become one of the largest contributors to industrial manufacturing. India's Economic Survey reports that the sector accounted for 8.1% of manufacturing Gross Value Added (GVA) in FY2024, while production of major chemicals and petrochemicals has shown consistent growth over the past decade.

Government projections also reflect the scale of future demand. India's chemicals and petrochemicals market are expected to expand from approximately USD 220 billion to USD 300 billion, with the petrochemical industry projected to approach USD 1 trillion by 2040. The country currently consumes 25–30 million tonnes of petrochemical products annually, and substantial investments are being directed toward expanding integrated refining and petrochemical capacity to reduce import dependence and support downstream manufacturing.

Oman is equally strengthening its position within the regional petrochemical landscape.
Supported by integrated refining and petrochemical assets at Sohar and the continued development of Duqm as a major industrial and logistics hub, Oman has expanded its role as a regional manufacturing and export centre. Its location along key international shipping routes enables efficient access to markets across the Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, East Africa and beyond, making the Sultanate an increasingly important link within regional supply chains.
For businesses operating across both countries, the relationship extends well beyond the movement of raw materials. India represents one of the world's fastest-growing centres of consumption and manufacturing, while Oman offers strategic connectivity, industrial infrastructure and access to international trade corridors. Together, these complementary strengths are creating opportunities for investment, downstream manufacturing, technology partnerships and long-term supply agreements.

These changing dynamics are expected to shape discussions throughout the conference programme, with sessions examining feedstock availability, downstream integration, logistics efficiency, sustainability, digitalisation and the evolving role of petrochemicals within the global energy transition.
Industry forecasts suggest that future growth will depend as much on collaboration as production capacity. As supply chains become more interconnected and investments increasingly cross borders, businesses are placing greater emphasis on partnerships that strengthen resilience, improve market access and encourage innovation across the value chain.

Against this backdrop, the 20th Edition of the Rex Fuels Global Expo & Conference will serve as a platform for industry leaders to exchange perspectives, explore emerging trends and strengthen commercial relationships at a time when the petrochemical industry continues to redefine its role in the global economy.
